The NORTON 66252836571 is a Type 1 bench and pedestal grinding wheel designed for material removal and tool sharpening on stationary grinding equipment. Built with green silicon carbide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel handles hard, brittle materials such as carbide tooling, ceramics, and stone. It measures 6 inches in diameter and 0.5 inches thick with a 1-inch arbor hole. The medium 60-grit specification provides a balance between stock removal rate and surface finish. At a maximum rated speed of 4,140 RPM, it is sized and rated for standard bench and pedestal grinders used in trade shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments. A bushing is included for arbor compatibility.
This wheel is suited for bench grinders and pedestal grinders in tool-and-die, maintenance, repair, and operations settings. Silicon carbide green wheels are the correct choice when grinding cemented carbide, non-ferrous metals, cast iron, and hard non-metallic materials. The medium 60-grit grade makes it practical for sharpening lathe tools, drill bits, and similar tooling where controlled material removal is needed. It is not intended for ferrous steel grinding, where aluminum oxide wheels are the standard selection.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit grinding wheel for standard bench and pedestal grinders accepting a 6-inch diameter, 0.5-inch wide, Type 1 wheel with a 1-inch arbor hole.
Bench and pedestal grinding wheel replacement should be performed by a qualified technician following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Power down and lock out the grinder before removing the old wheel. Inspect the replacement wheel for cracks or chips before mounting, and always ring-test the wheel per ANSI guidelines. Do not exceed the maximum RPM rating stamped on the wheel, and ensure guards are reinstalled and properly adjusted before returning the grinder to service.
