The NORTON 66252836396 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, it measures 6 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 60-grit medium-grade specification (hardness code K) delivers an aggressive yet controlled cut suited to production grinding applications. Rated at 4140 RPM maximum, this straight wheel is a standard fit for surface grinders and cylindrical grinders operated by machining professionals and tool-room technicians.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production and tool-room environments. Confirmed material applications include 400 Series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Its porous structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance, which reduces heat buildup during extended grinding passes on high-alloy and abrasion-resistant workpieces.
Confirmed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always verify the machine spindle speed does not exceed the wheel maximum RPM of 4140 before mounting. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using a ring test before installation, and never force a wheel onto a spindle — use proper blotter flanges and tighten the arbor nut to manufacturer specification. Power down and lock out the machine before changing wheels.
