The NORTON 66252835092 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and surface finishing on ferrous metals. Built from aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rates and good form holding across a range of grinding applications. The wheel measures 6 inches in diameter, 1/4 inches thick, with a 1-1/4 inches arbor hole. At 80 grit with a K hardness code (medium grade), it is suited for moderate material removal where surface finish and wheel life need to be balanced. Rated at 4,140 RPM maximum, it is appropriate for standard-speed surface grinders and cylindrical grinding setups.
This wheel is intended for use on hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels. It is compatible with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The 32A series vitrified aluminum oxide construction is a standard choice for tool rooms and production grinding cells where consistent performance on steel alloys is required. The porous structure aids coolant flow and chip clearance, reducing heat buildup during extended grinding passes.
Rated for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels. Part of the NORTON 32A Type 1 series with specification code 32AA80-KVTR.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator following ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks using the ring test and confirm the spindle RPM does not exceed the 4,140 RPM maximum marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never force the wheel onto the arbor or overtighten flanges, as this can cause fracture.
