The NORTON 66252833483 is a knotted carbon steel cup brush designed for aggressive surface preparation on metal, welds, and castings. With a 4-inch brush diameter and 0.02-inch wire diameter, the knotted wire configuration delivers high-impact scrubbing action that removes rust, mill scale, weld spatter, and coatings faster than crimped-wire alternatives. The saucer cup geometry concentrates wire contact on edges and curved surfaces. Rated to 15,000 RPM maximum, it mounts via a 5/8-11 threaded arbor and fits standard right-angle grinders used daily in fabrication, maintenance, and pipe work.
This cup brush is suited for industrial and trade applications including structural steel fabrication, pipe and vessel prep, weld cleanup, and heavy-duty rust removal. The single-row knotted fill is appropriate where fast material removal is the priority over fine surface finish. It is commonly used by pipefitters, ironworkers, millwrights, and maintenance mechanics working on carbon steel structures, equipment frames, and weld joints. It is not intended for use on stainless steel or aluminum where carbon steel contamination is a concern.
Designed for use with right-angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Confirm grinder rated speed meets or exceeds the brush maximum RPM before mounting.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B165 and applicable shop safety standards. Always power off and disconnect the grinder before mounting or removing the brush. Thread the brush fully onto the 5/8-11 spindle and verify it is secure before starting. Never exceed the 15,000 RPM maximum rated speed, and always use appropriate eye, face, and body protection when operating wire brushes.
