The NORTON 66243529041 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision material removal on a range of metals and hard surfaces. Built with a silicon carbide abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cutting action and controlled wear. It measures 3 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and carries a 1/2 inch arbor hole. At 60 grit with an M hardness code (medium grade), it is suited for moderate stock removal where surface finish is still a consideration. The wheel is rated to a maximum of 10,825 RPM and is non-porous with no recess and no taper.
This wheel is commonly used in shop and production environments for grinding 300 Series stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gray iron, masonry, and natural stone. It is compatible with CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, ID grinders, and surface grinders. The compact 3-inch diameter makes it practical for smaller machine spindles and toolroom applications where space and precision both matter. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and grinding technicians are the typical end users.
Designed for use with CNC cutting tool machines, cylindrical grinders, ID grinders, and surface grinders. Suitable for material applications including 300 Series stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gray iron, masonry, and natural stone.
A qualified machinist or grinding technician should install this wheel. Power down and lockout the grinder before mounting or removing any wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test per ANSI B7.1 guidelines. Never exceed the maximum rated RPM of 10,825 and always use the correct arbor bushing to ensure a secure, centered fit.
