The NORTON 614636-24375 is an A1-shape mounted point abrasive designed for medium to heavy duty blending applications. Mounted points are small grinding wheels secured to a mandrel shank, allowing them to be chucked into a die grinder or rotary tool for precision internal and surface grinding. This A1-shape point measures 3/4 inches in diameter by 2-1/2 inches in length and is dressed to a 60 grit specification, making it well suited for aggressive material removal and blending work on metal surfaces. It is the type of tooling installed and operated by machinists, tool and die makers, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
A1 mounted points are commonly used in applications requiring access to bores, cavities, slots, and contoured surfaces where a flat wheel cannot reach. The 60 grit rating places this point in the medium-coarse range, appropriate for weld blending, deburring, and surface preparation prior to finishing. Typical installation scenarios include machine shop maintenance, die and mold work, and general metal fabrication environments where a die grinder or pneumatic rotary tool is the primary driver.
Designed as an OEM-style mounted point abrasive for use with die grinders and rotary tools accepting a standard mandrel shank. Confirm shank diameter and RPM rating of the host tool before installation.
Mounted points are installed and operated by machinists and metal fabrication professionals. Before mounting, verify that the tool spindle RPM does not exceed the maximum RPM rating marked or supplied with the abrasive. Secure the mandrel shank firmly in the collet or chuck before operation and inspect the mounted point for cracks or chips prior to each use. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA abrasive grinding standards during operation.
