The NORTON 07660788248 is a Type 1 bench and pedestal grinding wheel designed for precision material removal on stationary grinder setups. Measuring 6 inches in diameter and 3/4 inches thick with a 1-inch arbor hole, this wheel is built around white aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix. At 150 grit, it falls in the very fine grade range, making it appropriate for finish grinding, light stock removal, and edge refinement on tool steel, high-speed steel, and similar ferrous materials. A bushing is included for arbor size adjustment. Rated to a maximum of 4,140 RPM, it suits standard 6-inch bench grinders common in maintenance shops, machine shops, and tool rooms.
This wheel is suited for bench grinder and pedestal grinder applications in commercial machine shops, maintenance facilities, and tool and die operations. The very fine 150 grit designation targets finish work rather than aggressive stock removal, including sharpening cutting tools, deburring, and light surface grinding. The white aluminum oxide formulation is a common choice for grinding high-speed steel tooling because it runs cooler than standard gray aluminum oxide wheels, helping preserve temper in heat-sensitive workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit grinding wheel for standard 6-inch bench grinders and pedestal grinders accepting a Type 1 straight wheel with a 1-inch arbor hole.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing wheels. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting, and never exceed the rated maximum RPM stamped on the wheel. Use the included bushing only if it seats flush and does not distort the arbor hole; an improperly fitted bushing can cause wheel imbalance.
