The NORGREN C/S2 is a pneumatic exhaust muffler designed to reduce noise at exhaust ports on pneumatic valves, cylinders, and related compressed-air components. Constructed from polyethylene, the muffler threads directly into a 1/4 inch Male NPT port and allows up to 50 CFM of exhaust flow while attenuating discharge noise. It measures 1.4 inches in overall length and 0.62 inches in diameter, making it compact enough for tight panel or manifold installations. The C/S2 is rated for temperatures up to 176 degrees F, covering the majority of industrial and light-commercial pneumatic service conditions. This part is installed by pneumatic system technicians, maintenance mechanics, and automation professionals.
The C/S2 exhaust muffler is suited for use on directional control valves, solenoid valve banks, air cylinders, and other pneumatically actuated equipment where unsilenced exhaust noise is a concern. Its polyethylene sintered-element construction provides both sound attenuation and a degree of particulate filtration at the exhaust port. Typical applications include manufacturing equipment, automated assembly lines, and any pneumatic circuit where noise reduction at the valve exhaust is required without significantly restricting exhaust flow rates.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement exhaust muffler for pneumatic valves and cylinders fitted with 1/4 inch Female NPT exhaust ports.
Installation is performed by a qualified pneumatic or mechanical technician. Depressurize and lock out the pneumatic system before removing or installing exhaust mufflers. Thread the C/S2 into the exhaust port by hand first, then tighten with an appropriate wrench — do not overtighten, as polyethylene threads can be damaged by excessive torque. Inspect the muffler periodically for clogging, as debris accumulation in the element will increase back pressure and may affect actuator cycle times.
