The NORDIC PURE 8x20x1PM12C-3 is a MERV 12 pleated plus carbon air filter sold in a 3-pack for residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Each filter combines an electrostatically charged MERV 12 pleated media layer fused with an activated carbon layer. This dual-material construction reduces flow restriction while providing 33% more surface area compared to single-layer designs. The activated carbon captures odorous gases, vapors, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) while the pleated media handles particulate filtration. Nominal size is 8x20x1 with an actual size of 7.69 x 19.69 x 0.75 inches. The frame is constructed from moisture-resistant beverage board with a bonded metal mesh support grid for structural integrity. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable HVAC service professionals install this filter in forced-air systems.
This filter is suited for residential homes and light commercial spaces where both particulate control and odor elimination are priorities. It traps lint, household dust, pollen, smoke particles, dust mites, pet dander, virus carriers, mold spores, allergens, and bacteria. The antimicrobial filter media inhibits the growth of mold and bacteria within the filter itself. It is particularly well suited for households with pets, allergy sufferers, or occupants sensitive to airborne odors and VOCs. Nordic Pure recommends replacing this filter every 30 to 90 days depending on indoor and outdoor conditions, with more frequent changes during home renovation work or high-pollen seasons.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 8x20x1 nominal filter slots in residential and light commercial forced-air furnace, air handler, and HVAC systems. Always verify against the actual size of 7.69 x 19.69 x 0.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual dimensions differ across filter brands and equipment.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified service professionals. Always shut down the furnace or air handler at the thermostat and disconnect power at the breaker before removing the old filter or inserting a new one. Confirm airflow direction arrows on the filter frame align with the direction of airflow in the system before securing the filter door or panel. Filters should be replaced on a regular schedule -- every 30 to 90 days is typical -- to maintain system efficiency and air quality.
