The NORDIC PURE 8x20x1PCP-12 is a pure carbon pleated air filter sold in a 12-pack, rated at MERV 8 efficiency. It is designed for residential furnace and air conditioning systems where both particulate capture and odor control are priorities. The filter uses a non-woven polyester base media infused with naturally derived charcoal and coconut shell activated carbon. This dual-action construction traps large airborne particles while absorbing odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on a molecular level. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable DIYers install this filter as a direct drop-in replacement in standard 1-inch filter slots.
This filter suits residential homes, apartments, and light commercial applications. The activated carbon media absorbs odors from pets, cooking, smoke, bathrooms, and household cleaning chemicals. It also functions as a pre-filter in high-efficiency commercial HVAC units where odor control ahead of the primary filtration stage is required. The pleated design delivers three times the carbon media surface area compared to flat-panel carbon filters, improving odor absorption without significantly restricting airflow. Replacement is recommended every 30 to 90 days depending on indoor air quality conditions and occupancy.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for residential and light commercial furnace and air conditioning systems that accept a nominal 8x20x1 inch filter. Verify the actual opening dimensions against the actual filter size of 7.69 x 19.69 x 0.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual sizes differ on nearly all pleated filters.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified service personnel. Power down the furnace or air handler at the disconnect or thermostat before removing the existing filter. Confirm airflow direction and install the new filter with the airflow arrow on the frame pointing toward the blower. Replace every 30 to 90 days, or more frequently during renovation activity or in high-occupancy environments.
