The actual size is 8.75 x 18 x 0.75 inches, cut and assembled to match non-standard filter openings where standard nominal sizes do not fit. The carbon layer targets odors in addition to particulate capture. At MERV 8, this filter captures 70 to 85 percent of airborne particles between 3 and 10 microns, including dust, lint, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores.
