Product Description

The NORDIC PURE 20x20x4M15-2 is a MERV 15 pleated air filter designed for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems. Sold in a 2-pack with a nominal size of 20x20x4 inches and an actual size of 19.5 x 19.5 x 3.625 inches, these filters use electrostatically charged synthetic media to capture fine airborne particulates on each air pass. The filter media is hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and rated to capture more than 90 percent of 1.0-10.0 micron contaminants and up to 85 percent of 0.30-1.0 micron contaminants. A heavy-duty moisture-resistant beverage board frame and a metal mesh support grid bonded to the pleats maintain structural integrity under normal system static pressure.

These filters are suited for residential furnaces and central air handlers where high-efficiency particulate control is required. Target contaminants include airborne dust, pollen, mold spores, pet dander, smog, dust mite debris, smoke particles, virus carriers, and bacteria. The MERV 15 rating is equivalent to MPR 2800, making this filter appropriate for applications that previously used high-efficiency rated media filters. Note that the actual depth is 3.625 inches. If the existing filter slot holds a unit with a 4.375-inch actual depth, the 20x20x5 variant is the correct replacement instead of this model.

Compatibility

Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 20x20x4 nominal filter slots with an actual opening of approximately 19.5 x 19.5 x 3.625 inches. This filter is not a direct replacement for units requiring a 4.375-inch actual depth filter such as certain Honeywell and Lennox media cabinets; those applications require the 20x20x5 variant with a 4.375-inch actual depth.

Installation Notes

Licensed HVAC technicians and qualified service personnel should verify the actual filter slot dimensions before installation - nominal and actual sizes differ, and an improper fit allows air bypass that reduces filtration efficiency. Power down the air handler or furnace at the disconnect or thermostat before opening the filter cabinet. Insert the filter with the airflow arrow on the frame pointing toward the blower. Nordic Pure recommends replacing this filter every 3 to 6 months depending on indoor air quality conditions and system runtime.
