The NORDIC PURE 18x24x1PM8C-12 is a pleated MERV 8 air filter with an integrated activated carbon layer, sold in a 12-pack for residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The dual-material construction fuses a MERV 8-rated filtration layer with an activated carbon layer, delivering 33 percent more surface area than standard single-layer pleated filters. This design captures airborne particulates while the carbon layer adsorbs odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including pet odors and cooking smells. The filter media is permanently electrostatically charged and carries an antimicrobial treatment that resists bacterial and mold growth within the media itself. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable homeowners typically install these during routine filter maintenance cycles.
This filter is suited for residential forced-air furnaces, air handlers, and central air conditioning systems where both particulate capture and odor control are priorities. The nominal size of 18x24x1 inches fits standard filter slots designed for that opening. The actual size is 17.5 x 23.5 x 0.75 inches, which is the dimension to verify against the filter track before installation. Nordic Pure recommends changing the filter every 30 to 90 days depending on indoor and outdoor air quality conditions, occupancy, and the presence of pets or ongoing construction activity.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement pleated filter for residential and light commercial forced-air furnaces, air handlers, and central HVAC systems accepting a nominal 18x24x1 inch filter. Always verify fit using the actual size of 17.5 x 23.5 x 0.75 inches against the physical filter track before installation.
Filter installation is typically performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified homeowner during routine maintenance. Power down or set the thermostat to OFF before opening the filter access panel to prevent unfiltered air from cycling through the system during the swap. Confirm airflow direction by matching the arrow printed on the filter frame to the direction of airflow toward the blower. Dispose of spent filters in a sealed bag to contain captured particulates and odors.
