The NORDIC PURE 18x18x2PM12C-12 is a pleated MERV 12 plus activated carbon air filter designed for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems. Each filter measures 17.75 x 17.75 x 1.75 inches actual size, fitting nominal 18x18x2 inch filter slots. The dual-layer construction fuses a MERV 12-rated filtration media with an activated carbon layer, reducing flow restriction while delivering 33% more surface area compared to standard single-layer pleated designs. The activated carbon captures odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) while the pleated media targets particulates. This listing includes 12 filters per box, totaling 15 pounds shipped weight.
This filter is suited for residential homes, apartments, and light commercial spaces where both particulate filtration and odor control are priorities. Typical applications include gas furnaces, air handlers, and central air conditioning systems with standard filter racks or return-air grilles sized for a nominal 18x18x2 inch filter. It is especially appropriate for environments with pets, smokers, or occupants with allergy or asthma sensitivities. MERV 12 performance is equivalent to an MPR rating of 1500 to 1900, making it a high-efficiency replacement for standard fiberglass, poly disposable, or washable filter media. Filters should be replaced every 30 to 90 days depending on indoor and outdoor air quality conditions.
Designed as a direct drop-in replacement for nominal 18x18x2 inch filter slots in residential and light commercial forced-air furnaces, air handlers, and central HVAC systems. Actual filter dimensions are 17.75 x 17.75 x 1.75 inches. Verify your filter slot accepts this actual size before installation.
Filter installation is a standard HVAC maintenance task performed by HVAC technicians or qualified service professionals. Before replacing the filter, set the thermostat to off and, where required by local practice, shut down power to the air handler at the disconnect. Slide the used filter out and note the airflow direction arrow on the existing filter before inserting the replacement in the same orientation. Follow ASHRAE guidelines and equipment manufacturer recommendations regarding filter replacement intervals, particularly in high-dust environments or during construction activities.
