The filter uses a dual-layer media that fuses MERV 12 pleated material with an activated carbon layer, targeting both particulate contaminants and airborne odors in a single pass. The actual size is 15.5 x 24.5 x 3.63 inches, which differs from the nominal 16x25x4 label - measure your existing filter before ordering. Activated carbon attracts and holds odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) while the pleated media captures particulates down to the 1.0-micron range. Licensed HVAC technicians and experienced DIYers install this filter as a standard maintenance replacement.
