The NORDIC PURE 16x20x5HM8-4 is a MERV 8 pleated air filter designed for forced-air HVAC systems that require a nominal 16x20x5 filter. The actual dimensions are 15.875 inches by 19.625 inches by 4.375 inches, which is the standard actual depth for housings nominally rated at 5 inches. The filter media is hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and electrostatic, bonded to a heavy-duty moisture-resistant beverage board frame with a metal mesh support grid on the pleats. Each pass of air through the media captures lint, household dust, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, bacteria, mold spores, and other airborne contaminants. This filter ships as a 4-pack and weighs 9 pounds. It is installed by HVAC technicians and knowledgeable homeowners performing routine filter maintenance.
This filter is suited for residential and light-commercial forced-air systems using a deep-media filter housing with a nominal 16x20x5 slot and an actual depth of approximately 4.375 inches. It is positioned as a direct replacement for Honeywell, Lennox, Carrier, and Bryant systems that use this nominal size. Because nominal and actual dimensions vary by manufacturer, technicians should verify the actual filter housing depth before ordering. This is particularly important for 4-inch and 5-inch depth housings, where variance between nominal and actual sizes is wider than with standard 1-inch filters. MERV 8 performance is comparable to an MPR 800 rating.
Designed as a replacement for Honeywell, Lennox, Carrier, and Bryant forced-air systems using a nominal 16x20x5 filter housing with an actual depth of 4.375 inches. Also replaces Honeywell 16x20x4 filters with an actual depth of 4.375 inches. Always measure the existing filter or housing before ordering to confirm the actual size matches.
Filter replacement is typically performed by a licensed HVAC technician or a qualified homeowner during scheduled preventive maintenance. Always power down the air handler or furnace at the disconnect or breaker before removing the existing filter. Confirm airflow direction arrows on the new filter align with the direction of airflow into the blower. Nordic Pure recommends replacing this filter every 3 to 6 months under normal operating conditions; more frequent replacement may be required during construction, renovation, or high-pollen seasons.
