The NORDIC PURE 16x20x5HM13+C-1 is a MERV 13 pleated plus carbon replacement air filter designed for residential forced-air heating and cooling systems. Rated MERV 13, it captures fine particulates including dust mites, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, smoke particles, and virus carriers while an integrated activated carbon layer adsorbs odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The nominal size is 16x20x5 inches with an actual size of 15.88 x 19.63 x 4.38 inches. Filter media is electrostatically charged synthetic material treated to be hypoallergenic and antimicrobial. The heavy-duty beverage board frame is moisture resistant, and a bonded metal mesh support grid stabilizes the pleats under airflow. Licensed HVAC technicians and experienced DIYers install this filter in standard deep-media filter housings.
This filter fits residential and light-commercial forced-air systems that accept a deep 5-inch nominal filter housing with an actual depth of 4.38 inches. Compatible systems include Honeywell, Lennox, Carrier, and Bryant air handlers and furnaces that use this size housing. Because actual filter depths vary by manufacturer, measuring the existing filter or the housing before ordering is strongly recommended. The MERV 13 rating is equivalent to an MPR rating of 2200-2400, making it a direct performance upgrade over fiberglass, poly disposable, and non-electrostatic washable filters. The carbon layer provides added odor control, making this filter well-suited for homes with pets, cooking odors, or VOC sources.
Designed to replace Honeywell 16x20x4 and other filters with an actual depth of 4.38 inches. Also fits Lennox, Carrier, and Bryant systems using this housing size. Always verify the actual size of your current filter or housing before installation, as nominal and actual dimensions vary by manufacturer and model.
Installation is performed by a licensed HVAC technician or a knowledgeable homeowner. Power down the air handler or furnace at the disconnect or thermostat before removing the old filter. Confirm airflow direction arrows on the new filter frame align with the direction of airflow into the blower. Nordic Pure recommends replacing this filter every 3 to 6 months, or more frequently during periods of high dust activity such as home renovations.
