The NORDIC PURE 16x20x1PM12C-2 is a dual-layer pleated air filter combining a MERV 12-rated filtration medium with an activated carbon layer, sold in a 2-pack. The MERV 12 layer captures fine particulates including dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, virus carriers, and bacteria. The fused carbon layer adsorbs odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), delivering both mechanical filtration and odor control in a single filter. The dual-material construction reduces flow restriction compared to stacked media designs and increases surface area by 33 percent. HVAC technicians and knowledgeable homeowners install this filter in residential forced-air heating and cooling systems.
This filter is sized for residential furnaces, air handlers, and central air conditioning systems using a 16x20x1 nominal filter slot. The nominal size is 16x20x1 inches; the actual size is 15.5 x 19.5 x 0.75 inches, which is the correct measurement to verify fit before installation. It is well suited for households with pets, allergy sufferers, or occupants sensitive to indoor odors and VOCs. The MERV 12 rating is equivalent to the MPR 1500-1900 range used by some competing filter brands. Filter media is permanently electrostatically charged to attract and hold particulates with each pass through the system.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for residential forced-air furnace and air handler systems accepting a 16x20x1 nominal filter. Actual filter dimensions are 15.5 x 19.5 x 0.75 inches; measure the existing filter or filter slot before ordering to confirm fit.
Set the thermostat to off and shut down the air handler or furnace before replacing the filter to prevent unfiltered air from circulating during the change. Confirm airflow direction before inserting the filter and orient it so the airflow arrow on the frame points toward the blower. Inspect the filter every 30 days and replace every 30 to 90 days depending on household conditions, pet traffic, and indoor air quality demands. More frequent changes are recommended during renovations or high-use periods.
