The NORDIC PURE 16x16x2M12-12 is a MERV 12 pleated air filter sold in a 12-pack, designed for residential and commercial HVAC systems including forced-air furnaces and central air conditioning units. Each filter measures 15.5 x 15.5 x 1.75 inches actual size with a nominal size of 16x16x2 inches. The electrostatically charged, hypoallergenic filter media captures lint, household dust, pollen, smoke particles, dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, virus carriers, and other airborne contaminants. The heavy-duty beverage board frame is moisture resistant, and the media is antimicrobial, meaning it will not promote bacterial or mold growth on the filter surface.
This filter is rated MERV 12, equivalent to MPR 1500-1900, making it suitable for environments where occupants have moderate allergies or asthma, or where pets are present. It is appropriate for residential homes and light commercial spaces that require higher-efficiency filtration than standard fiberglass filters provide. ASHRAE MERV ratings are the industry standard for measuring filter efficiency, and the MERV 12 classification means this filter captures smaller airborne particles than lower-rated alternatives. General service intervals range from one to three months depending on occupancy, pet presence, and local air quality conditions. Households with pets or allergy sufferers should inspect and replace filters more frequently.
Designed as a direct replacement for residential and commercial HVAC systems that accept a nominal 16x16x2 inch filter. Verify the actual opening dimensions of your filter slot against the actual size of 15.5 x 15.5 x 1.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual filter dimensions differ across manufacturers.
Filter replacement is a routine maintenance task performed by HVAC technicians or knowledgeable DIYers. Always shut down the HVAC system at the thermostat and, where required, at the disconnect or breaker before removing the old filter. Note the airflow direction arrow printed on the filter frame and align it with the direction of airflow toward the blower. Dispose of the used filter in a sealed bag to contain captured contaminants.
