The NORDIC PURE 12x25x2PM8C-12 is a pleated MERV 8 plus activated carbon furnace and air handler filter sold in a 12-pack. The filter uses a dual-layer construction that fuses MERV 8-rated filtration media with an activated carbon layer, delivering both particulate capture and odor reduction in a single filter change. The activated carbon attracts and holds odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) while the electrostatically charged pleated media traps airborne particles. The nominal size is 12x25x2 inches with an actual size of 11.5 x 24.5 x 1.75 inches. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable DIYers install this filter in residential and light commercial forced-air systems.
This filter is suited for residential gas furnaces, heat pumps, and central air conditioning systems where both particulate filtration and odor control are priorities. It performs well in homes with pets, cooking odors, or occupants with dust sensitivities. The activated carbon layer targets smoke particles, lint, household dust, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, bacteria, and mold spores. The MERV 8 rating makes it a step-up replacement over standard fiberglass, poly disposable, and non-electrostatic filters. Nordic Pure rates this filter comparable to an MPR 800 filter. Regular replacement every 30 to 90 days is recommended to maintain airflow and filtration efficiency, with more frequent changes during home renovation or high-use periods.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement filter for residential and light commercial forced-air heating and cooling systems that accept a nominal 12x25x2-inch filter. Verify the actual filter slot dimensions against the actual size of 11.5 x 24.5 x 1.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual sizes differ across equipment brands.
This filter is installed by HVAC technicians or qualified DIYers. Always set the thermostat to off and shut down the air handler or furnace before removing the old filter or installing the new one. Confirm airflow direction by matching the arrow printed on the filter frame to the direction of airflow toward the blower. Inspect the filter slot for debris and verify a snug fit to prevent air bypass around the filter frame.
