The NORDIC PURE 12x20x2PM12C-12 is a pleated, activated carbon air filter rated MERV 12, sold in a 12-pack. It uses a dual-layer construction that bonds a MERV 12 pleated media with an activated carbon layer. This design reduces flow restriction while adding 33% more surface area compared to a single-layer filter. The activated carbon attracts and holds odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), while the electrostatically charged pleated media captures airborne particulates. Licensed HVAC technicians and property maintenance professionals install these filters in residential and light commercial forced-air heating and cooling systems as part of scheduled preventive maintenance.
These filters are suited for residential and light commercial applications where both particulate filtration and odor control are priorities. Typical use cases include homes with pets, smokers, or occupants with allergies or respiratory sensitivities. The MERV 12 rating allows these filters to capture fine particulate matter including dust mite debris, mold spores, pollen, pet dander, smoke particles, lint, household dust, and virus carriers. The nominal size is 12x20x2 inches with an actual size of 11.5 x 19.38 x 1.75 inches. These are intended for single-pass, disposable use and should be replaced every 30 to 90 days depending on household conditions.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 12x20x2 inch nominal filter slots in residential and light commercial forced-air furnace, air handler, and HVAC system filter racks. Actual dimensions are 11.5 x 19.38 x 1.75 inches. Measure the existing filter opening before ordering to confirm fit.
Air filter replacement is a routine maintenance task performed by HVAC technicians or qualified building maintenance personnel. Always set the thermostat to the off position and confirm the air handler has stopped before removing the existing filter. Note the airflow direction arrow printed on the filter frame and orient the replacement filter so the arrow points toward the blower. Filters should be inspected monthly and replaced every 30 to 90 days; more frequent changes are warranted during home renovation, high-pollen seasons, or periods of heavy system use.
