The NORDIC PURE 12x20x1PM12C-4 is a pleated plus carbon HVAC air filter rated MERV 12, sold in a 4-pack. It combines a MERV-rated filtration layer fused with an activated carbon layer, which reduces flow restriction while adding 33% more surface area compared to a single-layer design. The dual-material construction captures airborne particulates and simultaneously adsorbs odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The filter uses permanently electrostatically charged media that attracts and holds dust, and antimicrobial treatment prevents bacteria and mold growth within the media itself. HVAC technicians and knowledgeable homeowners install this filter in residential and light commercial forced-air systems.
This filter is suited for residential and light commercial applications where both high particulate filtration and odor control are priorities. Typical use cases include homes with pets, smokers, allergy sufferers, or occupants sensitive to VOCs and household odors. It captures lint, household dust, pollen, smoke particles, dust mites, pet dander, virus carriers, mold spores, and allergens. The MERV 12 rating is equivalent to MPR 1500-1900, placing it in the high-efficiency range for residential pleated filters. The 4-pack format reduces service call frequency and supports a 30-to-90-day replacement interval depending on household conditions.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 12x20x1 nominal filter slots in residential and light commercial forced-air furnace, air handler, and HVAC systems. Actual dimensions are 11.5 x 19.5 x 0.75 inches; confirm the actual slot dimensions before ordering, as nominal and actual sizes differ across equipment brands.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified service personnel following local mechanical codes. Power down the furnace or air handler at the disconnect or thermostat before opening the filter compartment. Install the filter with the airflow arrow on the frame pointing toward the blower. Replace every 30 to 90 days depending on indoor air quality conditions, occupancy, and the presence of pets or renovation activity.
