The NORA LIGHTING NSLIC401AT10 is a 4-inch line voltage, IC-rated, airtight (AT) new construction recessed lighting housing designed for installation in insulated ceilings where direct contact with insulation is required by code. The double-wall construction supports an IC AT rating, meaning it meets the thermal requirements to be covered by insulation without creating a fire hazard. This housing operates at 120 volts and accepts up to a 50-watt GU10 lamp, which is included. It is intended for new construction applications where the housing is mounted to framing before the ceiling surface is installed. Licensed electricians perform the rough-in installation as part of new build or gut-renovation electrical work.
This housing is suited for residential and light commercial new construction projects where recessed downlighting is planned for insulated ceiling cavities. The IC AT designation makes it appropriate for use in wood-frame construction where blown or batt insulation will contact the fixture. The included GU10 lamp base allows compatibility with a wide range of GU10 MR16-style lamps. Typical install locations include bedroom ceilings, hallways, living areas, and other occupied spaces requiring airtight recessed lighting to meet energy codes such as IECC.
Designed as an OEM-style new construction housing for 4-inch recessed lighting systems operating at 120 volts with a GU10 lamp base in insulated ceiling applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician during the rough-in phase of construction before drywall is hung. Power to the circuit must be off and locked out before making any wiring connections. The housing should be secured to framing per the manufacturer mounting instructions and all wiring must comply with NEC Article 410 requirements for recessed luminaires. Do not use a trim or lamp that exceeds the wattage rating marked on the housing label.
