The NOMACO PESFRED2112 is a socket fusion reducer fitting designed to transition between two pipe sizes in IPS (Iron Pipe Size) piping systems. This fitting connects 2-inch pipe to 1-1/2-inch pipe using the socket fusion joining method, which creates a permanent, pressure-rated thermoplastic bond. It is commonly installed in polyethylene or other compatible thermoplastic piping systems used in plumbing, geothermal, and utility distribution applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as part of new construction or retrofit work where line size reductions are required.
This reducer is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations where IPS-dimensioned thermoplastic pipe is used. Typical applications include hydronic systems, geothermal ground loops, potable water distribution, and service line installations. The socket fusion design eliminates threaded connections, reducing potential leak points and providing a joint that is as strong as the pipe itself. It is well suited for installations requiring clean, reliable transitions between 2-inch and 1-1/2-inch pipe runs.
Designed as an OEM-style socket fusion reducer for IPS-dimensioned thermoplastic piping systems requiring a 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch pipe size transition.
Socket fusion fittings must be installed by a qualified plumber or pipefitter using properly calibrated socket fusion tooling, including a fusion iron, depth gauge, and pipe preparation tools. Pipe ends must be cut square, deburred, and cleaned before heating to ensure a proper melt and insertion. Follow the pipe and fitting manufacturer's recommended heat times, insertion depth, and cooling hold times without exception. Shut down and depressurize the system before cutting into any existing line.
