The NOMACO PERISER1-A is a 1-inch anodeless meter riser designed for natural gas service line transitions from buried polyethylene pipe to above-grade steel metering connections. This fitting eliminates the need for a separate anode by using a coated steel riser body bonded to a cross-linked polyethylene (Xpoly) transition section. Gas utility contractors and licensed plumbers install this component at the meter set to bring the underground PE service line up to the meter assembly without creating a corrosion cell at the soil-to-air interface. The 1-inch nominal size suits typical residential and light commercial gas service applications.
The PERISER1-A is used in natural gas distribution systems where polyethylene service lines transition to above-grade steel piping at the gas meter. It is suited for residential meter sets and light commercial installations requiring a clean, code-compliant PE-to-steel transition at grade level. The Xpoly construction provides flexibility in the buried section while the steel riser handles the above-grade load and connection to the meter assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 1-inch polyethylene natural gas service line meter riser applications.
Installation must be performed by a qualified gas utility contractor or licensed plumber in accordance with applicable codes including IFGC and 49 CFR Part 192 for gas distribution piping. The PE transition section is joined to the buried polyethylene service line using approved heat fusion or mechanical fitting methods per the pipe manufacturer specifications. Ensure the riser is properly supported and the meter assembly is de-pressurized before making final above-grade connections. Never use open flame or power tools that could damage the Xpoly transition section during installation.
