The NOMACO APT15838 is a closed-cell, flexible elastomeric foam pipe insulation designed for thermal control on mechanical piping systems. Manufactured by Armacell, this sleeved insulation features a 1-5/8 inch inner diameter and a 3/8 inch wall thickness, covering 6 feet per section. It is rated for temperatures from -297 degrees F minimum to 220 degrees F maximum. The black/white solid construction is fiber-free, formaldehyde-free, and low-VOC, making it suitable for sensitive environments. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors install this product in new construction and retrofit applications requiring code-compliant pipe insulation.
This pipe insulation is used in residential and commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration lines, plumbing, exposed ceiling installations, air plenums, and industrial or mechanical systems. It is also specified for use in schools, universities, and hospitals where low-VOC and non-particulating materials are required. The 1-5/8 inch ID fits standard pipe covering and is also compatible with 1-1/2 inch ID by 1-5/8 inch OD CTS tubing and 1-1/4 inch PVC pipe. The 2-inch sleeving size accommodates the insulation assembly in tight mechanical chases.
Fits 1-5/8 inch inner diameter pipe covering, 1-1/2 inch ID by 1-5/8 inch OD CTS tubing, and 1-1/4 inch PVC pipe. Suitable for refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, exposed ceiling and air plenum, school, university, hospital, and industrial or mechanical system applications as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians, pipefitters, or plumbers following local mechanical codes and applicable ASHRAE or NFPA 90A/90B requirements. Shut down and depressurize the pipe system before applying insulation to hot or refrigerant lines. The slit-sleeve design allows the insulation to be slipped over existing pipe runs; use compatible elastomeric adhesive at seams and butt joints to maintain the vapor barrier. Do not compress the insulation wall thickness during installation, as this reduces thermal performance.
