The NICHOLSON 21746HN is a 10-inch American-pattern half round file with a double-cut, bastard-cut tooth pattern designed for general-purpose material removal and finishing work. The half round profile gives the technician or tradesperson two working surfaces: a flat face for filing flat stock and a curved face for working concave surfaces, slots, and rounded openings. At 7/8 inch wide and 9/32 inch thick, the file carries enough mass to maintain consistent contact pressure across the work surface. It ships with an ergonomic handle installed, ready for use. Total weight is 0.2 pounds.
This file is suited for metal fabrication, pipefitting, HVAC sheet metal work, plumbing rough-in, and general maintenance applications where material needs to be shaped, deburred, or smoothed. The bastard cut provides an aggressive stock removal rate appropriate for initial shaping passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is a standard bench-tool item carried by HVAC technicians, pipefitters, electricians, and general maintenance mechanics who need a reliable all-purpose file on hand.
Designed as a general-purpose American-pattern hand file suitable for use on ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and similar materials in trade and industrial applications.
Hand files require no power source or special installation. Always inspect the handle for secure seating on the tang before use. Wear appropriate eye protection and gloves when filing metal to guard against flying chips and sharp edges. File in a controlled forward stroke with consistent pressure; lifting on the return stroke extends tooth life.
