Product Description

The NIBCO T-413-Y-1/2 is a Class 125 bronze Y-pattern swing check valve designed for 1/2 inch threaded (NPT) piping systems. It allows flow in one direction and closes automatically to prevent backflow without requiring manual operation. The valve body is cast bronze conforming to ASTM B-62 and ASTM B-140 C31400, with a PTFE disc and regrindable PTFE seat. Rated to 200 psi non-shock cold working pressure and 125 psi saturated steam service up to 353 degrees F, this valve is built for demanding industrial and mechanical applications. A screw-in bonnet provides access to the internals, making disc and seat service straightforward in the field.

The T-413-Y-1/2 is suited for steam, water, oil, and gas service across horizontal and vertical mount orientations. The Y-pattern body geometry produces lower pressure drop compared to straight-body check valves, making it a practical choice in lines where flow efficiency matters. Typical installations include boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, and process piping where backflow prevention is required. This valve is approved for non-potable water applications only. Use in U.S. drinking water applications is prohibited after January 3, 2014, per applicable lead law compliance requirements.

Key Features

  • Y-pattern body reduces pressure drop across the valve compared to standard swing check designs
  • Renewable PTFE disc and regrindable seat allow in-field servicing without full valve replacement
  • Screw-in bonnet design provides straightforward access for inspection and maintenance
  • Rated to 200 psi non-shock cold working pressure and 125 psi saturated steam to 353 degrees F
  • Supports horizontal and vertical mount installation orientations
  • Conforms to MSS SP-139 and ASTM B-62, ASTM B-140 C31400, ASTM B-16

Compatibility

Designed for 1/2 inch threaded NPT piping systems in steam, water, oil, and gas service. Approved for non-potable water applications only. Not approved for U.S. drinking water service as of January 3, 2014.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes. Isolate and depressurize the line completely before installing or servicing this valve. For steam applications, allow the system to cool to a safe temperature before handling. Verify flow direction alignment with the arrow cast on the valve body before making up threaded connections.
