The NIBCO s-585-70-112 is a two-piece full-port bronze ball valve designed for quarter-turn operation in commercial and light industrial piping systems. The valve features a solder (female solder cup) end connection sized at 1-1/2 inches, a brass ball with hard chrome plate, and a silicon bronze stem. It carries a cold water pressure rating of 600 PSI and a steam working pressure rating of 150 PSI, making it suitable for demanding fluid-control applications. A CS standard lever handle provides direct open-close feedback with a single 90-degree turn. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors are the primary installers.
This valve is commonly specified in commercial mechanical rooms and light industrial process lines. Approved service applications include HVAC hydronic systems, hot and cold domestic water distribution, low-pressure steam, compressed air, LP gas, and natural gas. The full-port design minimizes pressure drop across the valve, which is important in flow-sensitive systems. The reinforced PTFE (RPTFE) seat seal material holds up to the thermal cycling typical in HVAC and domestic water service.
Designed for 1-1/2 inch copper solder-joint piping in HVAC, hot and cold domestic water, low-pressure steam, compressed air, LP gas, and natural gas service in commercial and light industrial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the supply line and allow all piping to cool completely before soldering. Use proper flux and solder appropriate for the service type, and avoid excessive heat on the valve body to protect the RPTFE seat seals. Consult the NIBCO technical data sheet and valve selection guide for full engineering and installation requirements.
