The NIBCO PRESREDFTGC2112 is a copper reducing fitting designed for press-style piping systems. It transitions from a 2-inch FTG (fitting) end to a 1-1/2-inch press end, allowing tradespeople to step down pipe diameter without soldering or open flame. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on hydronic heating, chilled water, and domestic water distribution systems. The FTG end slips over copper tubing to mate with a standard sweat socket, while the press end connects using a pressing tool and approved press rings for a leak-free, flame-free joint.
This reducer fits into residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical systems where pipe diameter changes are needed at branches, headers, or equipment connections. It is suited for new construction and retrofit work where press technology is preferred to reduce labor time and eliminate torch work in areas with fire restrictions or confined spaces. No compatibility with specific models was stated in the product data.
Designed as an OEM-style copper press reducer for use in standard copper press piping systems with a 2-inch FTG inlet and 1-1/2-inch press outlet.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following local plumbing codes and ASME B16.22 standards for wrought copper fittings. Shut off and depressurize the water or hydronic system and drain the lines before cutting in the fitting. The press end requires a compatible pressing tool and properly sized press ring or jaw set rated for copper press connections. Do not use the press end with a torch or solder, as this will damage the press seal.
