The NIBCO PRESREDFTGC21 is a copper reducing fitting designed for press-style piping systems. It connects a 2-inch fitting-end (FTG) outlet to a 1-inch press-end inlet, allowing technicians to step down pipe diameter within a run without soldering. This fitting is used in hydronic heating, plumbing distribution, and mechanical systems where copper press technology is specified. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this component as part of larger press-fit assemblies using compatible jaw-and-ring press tools.
This reducer is suited for residential and light commercial applications where copper press systems replace traditional sweat connections. The FTG end slips over copper pipe for inline or near-fitting transitions, while the press end accepts a standard press-fit connection. It is commonly installed in potable water distribution, hydronic heating loops, and radiant systems where reducing transitions are needed between main lines and branch circuits.
Designed as an OEM-style press fitting replacement or new-installation component for copper press piping systems using 2-inch and 1-inch nominal copper pipe sizes.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter using a compatible copper press tool and the appropriate press jaw and ring size for each end. Shut off and depressurize the system and ensure pipe ends are clean, deburred, and dry before pressing. Do not use torch or solder with this fitting. Follow local plumbing codes and the fitting manufacturer's press tool compatibility requirements before proceeding.
