The NIBCO PRESREDFTGC134 is a copper press reducer fitting designed to transition between a 1-inch pipe and a 3/4-inch press connection in a single joint. It uses a press-type connection method, eliminating the need for open flame soldering on the press end while the FTG (fitting-to-go) end sweat-solders into a standard copper fitting socket. This reducer is used by licensed plumbers to downsize copper piping runs in potable water, hydronic heating, and commercial plumbing systems. The copper construction provides corrosion resistance suited to wet service environments.
This fitting is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a pipe run steps down from 1-inch to 3/4-inch copper. The FTG end accepts a standard copper fitting or can be soldered directly into a valve or manifold socket. The press end connects to copper tubing using a compatible press tool and jaw set. It is commonly installed in domestic water distribution, recirculation loops, and radiant heating manifold branch connections.
Designed as an OEM-style copper press reducer fitting compatible with standard 1-inch x 3/4-inch copper tubing and fitting systems using FTG x press connection configurations.
Installation of the press end requires a calibrated press tool with the appropriate jaw size for the connection diameter. Shut off and depressurize the water system and verify the pipe is dry before pressing. The FTG end must be cleaned, fluxed, and soldered per standard copper sweat-joining procedures in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. This fitting should be installed by a licensed plumber where local codes require it.
