The NIBCO PRESREDFTGC112114 is a copper reducing fitting designed for press-connect plumbing systems. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch FTG (fitting-to-go, or solder cup) end to a 1-1/4 inch press end, allowing installers to step down pipe size within a copper distribution system. This fitting is suited for potable water, hydronic heating, and commercial plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this component when reducing line size between supply runs or at branch takeoffs without the need for open-flame soldering on the press end.
This reducer is used in residential and light commercial copper piping systems where press-connect technology is specified or preferred. The FTG end accepts standard copper pipe for a solder joint, while the press end creates a watertight mechanical connection using a compatible press tool and jaw set. It is a practical fitting for retrofit work or new construction where both press and solder connections appear in the same system.
Designed as an OEM-style press fitting for use in copper pipe systems requiring a reducing FTG-to-press connection at 1-1/2 inches by 1-1/4 inches.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local jurisdiction requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before beginning work. The FTG end requires standard soldering practice with appropriate flux and lead-free solder; the press end requires a manufacturer-approved press tool fitted with the correct jaw size. Do not press the fitting without verifying the pipe is fully seated to the marked depth line.
