The NIBCO PRESREDFTGC1121 is a copper reducing fitting designed for press-fit piping systems. It connects a 1-1/2 inch FTG (fitting) end to a 1 inch press end, allowing a controlled reduction in pipe diameter within a single assembly. This fitting eliminates the need for soldering at the press end, making it a practical choice for mechanical rooms, equipment rooms, and hydronic or domestic water systems where open-flame work is restricted or time savings are a priority. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This reducer is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where copper press systems are specified. The FTG end accepts a standard copper pipe or fitting hub, while the press end creates a permanent, leak-tight joint using a press tool and the appropriate jaw set. It is commonly used to transition between main distribution lines and branch lines, or to reduce pipe size when connecting to equipment with a smaller inlet connection.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for copper press piping systems where a 1-1/2 inch FTG to 1 inch press reduction is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water system and ensure the pipe is clean, dry, and deburred before pressing. Use a compatible press tool with the correct 1 inch jaw set for the press end; an improper jaw will not form a reliable seal. The FTG end is joined using standard copper sweat-solder practices where flame is permitted.
