The NIBCO PRESREDFTGC112 is a copper press reducer fitting designed to transition between a 1-inch and 1/2-inch line in a pressurized water or hydronic piping system. The fitting uses an FTG (fitting-to-groove) end on one side and a press connection on the other, eliminating the need for open-flame soldering at the reducer joint. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in both new construction and retrofit work where flame-free connections are required or preferred. Copper construction provides corrosion resistance and long service life in standard potable water and hydronic applications.
This reducer fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a pipe run steps down from a 1-inch main to a 1/2-inch branch or terminal connection. The press end accepts a standard press tool and compatible press sleeve or jaw set, making installation fast in tight spaces. The FTG end is sized to receive standard copper tubing for a secure, leak-free joint. It is commonly installed in domestic hot and cold water distribution systems, radiant heating loops, and hydronic fan coil connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation copper press reducer for residential and light commercial plumbing systems using standard 1-inch and 1/2-inch copper tubing and press-fit piping components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber following local plumbing code requirements and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. The press end requires a compatible press tool with the correct jaw or collar size for the fitting diameter. Inspect the press sleeve or O-ring for damage before making the connection, and verify the press joint is fully engaged before restoring system pressure.
