The NIBCO PRESADCMIP2 is a 2-inch copper press-by-male-IP adapter designed for joining press-fit copper tubing systems to male iron pipe threaded connections. This fitting uses a cold-press connection method that eliminates open flame, making it well suited for retrofit and new-construction plumbing and hydronic applications where torch work is restricted or undesirable. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers. The adapter connects a press-side copper joint on one end to a male NPT-threaded fitting on the other, allowing transitions between press copper and threaded piping systems in a single fitting.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, radiant heating, and hydronic distribution systems where press copper is the specified piping method. It is particularly useful when transitioning from a press copper main to a threaded valve, manifold, or equipment connection. The 2-inch size suits main distribution lines and larger branch runs. The PC604 designation reflects the NIBCO product series for copper press male adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 2-inch copper press piping systems with male iron pipe thread transitions.
Installation requires a calibrated press tool with the appropriate 2-inch copper press jaw or ring — hand tightening alone will not seat the connection. Shut off and depressurize the water or hydronic system fully before pressing. Male NPT threads should be wrapped with thread seal tape or pipe joint compound per local plumbing code before assembly. Work must comply with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements; verify that copper press fittings are approved for the intended service in the local jurisdiction.
