The NIBCO PRES45STLFTGC12 is a copper 45-degree elbow fitting designed for press-style copper piping systems. It features a fitting-to-fitting (FTG) end on one side and a press connection on the other, allowing integration into existing sweat or press-fit piping runs without requiring solder on the press end. At 0.5 inches, this elbow changes flow direction at a 45-degree angle to route piping around obstructions or follow building structure. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial potable water, hydronic heating, and cooling piping systems where press-tool connections are preferred for speed or flame-free work.
This fitting is suited for installations where open-flame soldering is restricted or where faster assembly is required. The FTG end accepts standard copper pipe or a copper fitting cup, making it compatible with mixed sweat-and-press system builds. Typical applications include new construction plumbing, re-pipe projects, mechanical rooms, and retrofit work in occupied buildings where torch use is not permitted.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for standard 0.5-inch copper press piping systems using FTG x Press end configurations.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the water supply and drain the line before cutting into any existing piping. The press end requires a manufacturer-approved press tool and the correct jaw or ring profile for the fitting size — confirm tool compatibility before pressing. The FTG end may be soldered using standard copper-to-copper sweat practices in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local authority having jurisdiction.
