The NIBCO NL7J004 is a 1/4 inch Y-pattern check valve designed to allow one-directional flow and prevent backflow in pressurized piping systems. The valve features a bronze body and bronze seat construction, making it well suited for water, oil, and gas service within its rated limits. It is rated at 300 WOG (water, oil, gas) pressure and accepts a maximum working pressure of 300 psi. Female NPT connections on both ends allow straightforward threaded installation into standard pipe assemblies. This valve is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in both residential and light commercial applications.
The NL7J004 is used in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping systems where backflow prevention is required on smaller-diameter lines. Its compact Y-pattern body allows installation in tight spaces while maintaining reliable seating. The FNPT x FNPT end connections make it compatible with standard threaded pipe runs. Applications include domestic water supply lines, hydronic heating circuits, and compressed air or gas distribution systems operating within the rated pressure and temperature limits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation check valve for 1/4 inch threaded pipe systems in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and gas distribution applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before removing any existing valve or fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male NPT threads before makeup, and tighten to appropriate wrench-tight engagement without over-torquing bronze fittings. Verify the flow-direction arrow on the valve body is oriented with the intended flow direction before final installation.
