The NIBCO njb83hnb is a full port, two-piece silicon bronze ball valve designed for sweat (solder) end connections in potable water and hydronic plumbing systems. Built to a 600 psi non-shock cold working pressure rating with a maximum temperature of 300 degrees F, this valve delivers reliable shutoff in demanding residential and light commercial installations. The dezincification-resistant (DZR) body material resists corrosion in aggressive water conditions. A reinforced PTFE seat provides a tight seal across the full range of service temperatures. The blowout-proof stem adds a critical safety feature for high-cycle applications. Lead Law compliant and NSF 61-8 and NSF 372 certified, this valve meets current potable water installation requirements.
The njb83hnb is suited for copper-pipe potable water distribution, heating, and cooling systems where a full-bore shutoff is required. The sweat connection on both ends makes it a direct fit into standard copper line sets. Full port design minimizes pressure drop across the valve, which matters in systems with flow-rate-sensitive equipment such as boilers, chillers, or domestic water heaters. The NIB-SEAL handle is standard; optional accessories including a locking lever, memory stop, extended lever, and round or wing handle configurations are available from NIBCO for this valve series.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation ball valve for 1-1/4 inch copper sweat systems. Part of the NIBCO S-585-66-LF collection. Compatible accessories include NIB-SEAL handle, locking lever, memory stop, extended lever, and round or wing handle options available through NIBCO.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before soldering; the valve body should be in the open position and the internal components protected from heat during sweat assembly. Do not exceed the rated 600 psi non-shock cold working pressure or 300 degrees F maximum temperature. IAPMO listed; verify local inspection requirements before installation in potable water systems.
