The NIBCO NJB83HN6 is a lead-free, two-piece bronze ball valve designed for quarter-turn shutoff service in plumbing and mechanical piping systems. The valve accepts 1/2 inch solder (sweat) end connections, making it compatible with standard copper tubing installations. Its full-port or standard-port ball design allows for smooth, reliable open-to-close operation with a 90-degree handle rotation. The NIBSEAL stem design provides enhanced blowout-resistant stem protection. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this valve in both new construction and retrofit applications where lead-free compliance is required by code.
The NJB83HN6 is suited for residential and commercial potable water systems, hydronic heating and cooling distribution, and general mechanical piping. Its solder-end configuration is a direct fit for copper pipe systems throughout the 1/2 inch line size range. The lead-free construction meets the requirements of state and federal lead-free mandates for potable water contact, making it appropriate for use in kitchens, bathrooms, mechanical rooms, and similar water service environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation ball valve for residential and commercial copper pipe systems requiring a 1/2 inch lead-free solder-end shutoff valve.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Depressurize and drain the system before cutting into an existing line. Use standard soldering flux and lead-free solder when making sweat connections, and allow the joint to cool fully before restoring system pressure. Refer to the NIBCO technical data sheet and installation guide for torque and pressure rating details.
