The NIBCO NHAW00K is a 6-inch flanged gate valve built to Class 250 service in demanding commercial and industrial piping systems. The cast iron body pairs with brass trim and a reinforced graphite packing system to handle pressures up to 500 psi and temperatures up to 450 degrees F. An outside stem and yoke (OS&Y) design gives the installer a clear visual indication of valve position at all times. The bolted bonnet construction and solid wedge disc make this valve well suited for full open or full shut isolation service across a range of fluid and gas media. A 16-inch handwheel provides the mechanical advantage needed to actuate a valve of this size under line pressure. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically specify and install this valve class.
This valve is rated for commercial and industrial applications including hot and cold water distribution, HVAC hydronic systems, steam lines, compressed air, gas service, and other general utility piping. The flanged end style mates to Class 250 flat-face or raised-face flanged connections, making it a common choice for mechanical rooms, pump stations, boiler plants, and large-diameter distribution headers where bolted flange joints are standard practice. The 15.87-inch face-to-face dimension and 33-inch top-to-inlet-center measurement are critical clearance considerations during rough-in and must be confirmed against available installation space before ordering.
Rated for gas, water, steam, compressed air, and general utility media in commercial and industrial systems with Class 250 flanged piping. Note: per California Section 116875, this valve is not approved for use in potable drinking water service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical codes including ASME B31.1 or B31.9 as required by the jurisdiction. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing any existing valve or breaking a flanged joint. Confirm flange bolt-circle pattern, gasket rating, and face-to-face clearance before installation. The OS&Y configuration requires adequate overhead clearance above the bonnet for full stem travel.
