The NIBCO NHAL10E is an OS and Y gate valve designed for industrial and commercial piping systems requiring reliable full-bore shutoff. Built with a ductile iron body and bolted bonnet, this valve handles operating temperatures up to 450 degrees F at a 150 pressure class rating. The outside screw and yoke (OS and Y) design provides a visible open or closed indication and protects the stem threads from the media flow, making maintenance more straightforward in demanding service environments. It accepts a 2-1/2 inch pipe connection via a flanged raised face end connection. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for valves of this type in commercial mechanical rooms, fire protection risers, and process piping.
This valve is suited for 2-1/2 inch flanged piping systems in commercial and light industrial applications where positive shutoff and easy valve-position identification are required. The flanged raised face end connection conforms to standard bolt patterns used in ANSI Class 150 piping systems. The solid wedge disc and iron wheel handle make this valve appropriate for water, steam, and compatible fluid services within its rated temperature and pressure range. It conforms to MSS SP-128, the industry standard specification for ductile iron gate valves.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation gate valve for 2-1/2 inch ANSI Class 150 flanged raised face piping systems in commercial and industrial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local mechanical codes and ASME B31.1 or B31.9 piping standards. Isolate and depressurize the system completely before removing any existing valve or breaking a flanged connection. Verify flange bolt torque patterns follow standard cross-bolt sequencing to ensure even gasket seating. Do not exceed the rated pressure class or temperature limits for the valve or its associated gasket material.
