The NIBCO M172700 is a 3/4-inch CPVC end cap designed to terminate open pipe ends in hot and cold water distribution systems. Rated for working temperatures up to 180 degrees F, this fitting handles the demands of residential and light commercial plumbing where CPVC is the pipe material of choice. The slip-style end connection allows the fitting to be solvent-welded directly onto the pipe outside diameter. Plumbers and pipefitters select this cap when permanently closing off a branch line, service stub, or test section in a CPVC system. It meets ASTM and NSF standards, confirming it is suitable for potable water service.
This end cap is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where CPVC pipe runs require a clean, pressure-tight termination. Typical applications include closing off unused branch outlets, capping test points, and terminating supply stubs during new construction or retrofit work. The 3/4-inch size is common in main distribution lines and branch runs throughout domestic hot and cold water systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for 3/4-inch CPVC pipe systems conforming to ASTM D specifications in residential and light commercial potable water distribution applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off water supply and depressurize the line before cutting and preparing the pipe end. Clean and dry the pipe and fitting socket thoroughly before applying CPVC-rated solvent cement; do not use PVC cement on CPVC fittings. Allow the solvent weld to cure per the cement manufacturer's instructions before restoring pressure to the system.
