The NIBCO INC W01710T is a lead-free copper tee fitting designed for sweat (solder) connections in pressurized water supply and distribution systems. Sized at 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch with a CxCxC end configuration, this fitting allows a continuous run pipeline to branch off in a secondary direction. Three solder cups accept standard copper tubing and are joined using a conventional sweat-soldering process. The lead-free construction meets federal and state potable water requirements. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial applications where copper supply lines require a branch takeoff.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a 3/4-inch main line needs to reduce and branch to two 1/2-inch supply lines. Typical applications include domestic hot and cold water distribution, fixture supply branches, and in-wall rough-in work. The CxCxC (solder-cup by solder-cup by solder-cup) configuration requires no threads, press tools, or push-fit adapters — standard copper tubing, flux, and a torch are all that is needed to complete the joint.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for standard copper water supply and distribution piping systems using sweat-joint connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local jurisdiction requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water supply, then drain and dry the pipe section completely before soldering — moisture in the line will prevent a proper solder joint from forming. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply lead-free flux before applying heat. Allow joints to cool fully before restoring pressure and inspecting for leaks.
