The NIBCO INC W01400D is a 45-degree elbow fitting designed for copper tubing systems in residential and light commercial plumbing installations. Configured in a FTG (fitting-to-copper) by C (sweat) end pattern, this elbow accepts standard copper tube into one end and a solder cup on the other, allowing direction changes of 45 degrees within a run of pipe. The fitting is lead-free, meeting current NSF and Safe Drinking Water Act requirements for potable water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this component where a gradual directional change is needed without the abrupt turn of a 90-degree elbow, reducing turbulence and pressure drop in the line.
This fitting is suited for residential and commercial copper water supply systems where a 45-degree offset is required. Typical applications include domestic hot and cold water distribution, hydronic heating supply and return lines, and general plumbing rough-in work. The FTGxC connection style is used when one end of the elbow must seat flush inside another fitting hub, a common need when making tight transitions in copper manifold assemblies or headers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for 1/2 inch copper tube systems using sweat-solder (C) and fitting-end (FTG) connections in potable water and hydronic plumbing applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off water supply and fully drain the line before cutting and fitting. Clean tube ends and fitting cups with emery cloth and apply appropriate flux before soldering; use a lead-free solder compatible with potable water service. Do not apply heat to the fitting while water or pressure remains in the line.
