The NIBCO INC W01180D is a 3/8 inch copper-by-male (CxM) adapter fitting designed to transition a solder cup connection to a male NPT threaded connection. Also referenced as the C604 series, this fitting allows plumbers and pipefitters to join copper tubing to threaded pipe or threaded equipment ports cleanly and reliably. The solder cup end accepts copper tubing and is joined with standard sweat-soldering technique, while the male NPT thread end connects to female-threaded fittings, valves, or equipment. Compliant with lead-free requirements, this adapter is suitable for potable water systems where lead-free materials are mandated.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a copper distribution line must terminate or connect at a threaded port. Typical applications include connecting copper supply lines to shut-off valves, fixture supply lines, water heaters, boilers, and other threaded plumbing components. The lead-free construction makes it appropriate for domestic water service, in-wall rough-in, and any application governed by lead-free compliance standards. It is supplied in a package quantity of 25 units, making it practical for contractor stocking and service van inventory.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for copper plumbing systems requiring a transition from a sweat solder connection to a male NPT threaded connection in 3/8 inch size.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize and drain the line before soldering. Clean and flux both the copper tubing and solder cup before applying heat to ensure a sound joint. Do not apply thread sealant or tape to the solder cup end; use appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape on the male NPT threads only when making the threaded connection.
