The NIBCO INC W00890T is a lead-free copper reducer fitting designed to step down a 3/4-inch line to a 1/2-inch line in a sweat-solder assembly. One end is a male solder fitting (FTG) that slips into a standard solder cup, while the other end is a solder cup (C) that accepts standard copper tubing. This configuration allows the fitting to be used in-line wherever a pipe size reduction is required. Plumbers and pipefitters use this fitting in residential and light commercial water distribution, hydronic, and refrigeration tubing systems. Its lead-free construction meets current potable water compliance requirements.
This reducer fitting is suited for copper sweat installations where a transition from 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch tubing is required. Typical applications include branch line reductions in domestic hot and cold water supply systems, as well as hydronic heating and cooling distribution piping. The FTG end allows back-to-back fitting connections without a nipple, which is useful in tight spaces. It is sold in packages of 25 units, making it practical for contractors stocking fittings for multi-fixture rough-in work.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat solder reducer for use with standard copper tubing in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize and drain the line before cutting or soldering. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply flux before sweating the joint. Do not apply heat to the fitting while the line is pressurized or contains water.
