The NIBCO INC T00230D is a CPVC reducing bushing designed to transition a 3/4-inch pipe connection down to a 1/2-inch fitting socket. Made from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, this bushing handles the elevated temperatures and pressures common in residential and light commercial hot and cold water distribution systems. The male-by-female spigot-and-socket configuration allows it to drop into a standard CPVC socket fitting without requiring additional adapters. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing during new construction and retrofit work where branch lines or fixture supply drops require a size reduction in the CPVC run.
This reducing bushing is suited for domestic potable water supply lines, hydronic distribution piping, and general plumbing applications where CPVC is the specified material. It is commonly installed at fixture drops, appliance connections, and branch tees where a 3/4-inch main must reduce to a 1/2-inch service leg. The part is sold in a package quantity of 10 units, making it practical for multi-fixture jobs or stocking the service van.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for standard 3/4-inch by 1/2-inch CPVC piping systems following ASTM dimensional standards for CPVC socket fittings.
Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install CPVC fittings using approved CPVC solvent cement per the manufacturer and applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water supply and allow the line to drain completely before cutting into an existing run. Clean and deburr both the spigot end and the receiving socket before applying primer and cement. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before restoring pressure to the line.
