The NIBCO INC BF0150LC is a 1/2 inch copper-by-female-NPT 90-degree drop elbow designed to change pipeline direction while transitioning from a solder connection to a threaded female connection. It features a solder cup inlet, female NPT outlet, and integrated mounting ears for securing the elbow to a structural surface such as a wall or framing member. Constructed to lead-free standards, this fitting is suitable for potable water systems where lead-free compliance is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
This drop elbow is commonly used in supply stub-out applications where a fixture supply line or valve must terminate flush against or through a wall. The mounting ears allow the fitting to be nailed or screwed to framing before the wall surface is finished, creating a secure anchor point for a fixture connection. Typical applications include lavatory faucet supplies, toilet stops, and similar rough-in plumbing work where a 90-degree turn and a threaded outlet are needed at the wall.
Designed as an OEM-style drop elbow for 1/2 inch copper sweat-by-female-NPT stub-out applications in residential and light commercial potable water plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. The solder cup connection requires standard copper tube preparation including cutting, deburring, and fluxing before sweating; the female NPT outlet should be assembled with appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape. Do not over-tighten the threaded connection, as this can crack the fitting body.
