The NIBCO I032050 is an ABS drain, waste, and vent (DWV) adapter fitting designed to transition between a spigot connection and a male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection. Molded from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), this adapter is suited for residential and light commercial drain, waste, and vent piping systems. At 1-1/2 inches, it covers a common DWV pipe size used in lavatory drains, fixture branch lines, and vent stacks. The fitting is rated for temperatures from -40 degrees F to 180 degrees F, giving it a usable range across typical plumbing environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this adapter where a smooth spigot end must connect to a threaded male fitting in a DWV assembly.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial DWV piping systems wherever a spigot-to-MIPT transition is required. Common install scenarios include fixture drain connections, trap arm assemblies, and vent riser tie-ins where ABS pipe terminates at a threaded fitting. The 1-1/2-inch size is standard for lavatory, laundry, and similar fixture drain lines. Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local amendments. Shut off water supply and verify the drain system is depressurized before beginning work. Apply ABS solvent cement to the spigot end and an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the MIPT threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten the threaded connection, as ABS fittings can crack under excessive torque.
